Hello. Our names are Razan and Aminah. Thank you for reading our blog entry about a truly remarkable Canadian, Kim Phuc.
Kim Phuc was born in 1963 in Vietnam, Kim Phuc and her family were residents of Trang Bang, a village in South Vietnam. On June 8th, 1972, a bomb was dropped by South Vietnamese planes in Trang Bang. Originally, she became famous for a photo of her running naked after a napalm bomb that burned her clothes. The photo was taken on the day where they dropped the bomb on the village. It was partly responsible for showing to the world the horror that the Vietnam War brought to the lives of millions of children. Alot of people say that the picture of Kim Phuc was one of the haunting pictures of the Vietnam War. It is probably true that her suffering, as well as the sharing of this series of photos, helped shorten the Vietnam War. This, then, saved the lives of many civilians - both adults and children!
